Earlier today, Sega hosted a live streaming event for Sakura Revolution: Maidens In Bloom (Sakura Kakumei: Hanasaku Otome-tachi). During the show, the publisher showed off a new teaser trailer for the game. The three-minute trailer offers an overview of the events leading up to the game, starting in Taisho 84 (1995 CE).

The Plot Breakdown

Prior to its disappearance in Taisho 84, the Imperial Combat Revue (帝国華撃団) had primarily acted as the Imperial Opera Revue (帝国歌劇団), led by top star and commander Kirin Aoshima. In time, Sakura Nadeshiko joined the group, joining Aoshima as a popular headliner within the group.

In the midst of a time of unprecedented prosperity, Aoshima officially retired, entrusting leadership of the company to Sakura Nadeshiko Taisho 77.

In the year Taisho 84, great explosions and pulses of spiritual energy ravaged Japan, causing untold devastation. The Great Imperial Theater burned overnight, and the Spiricle Armors that had previously protected the nation were damaged beyond repair.

As the cities burned, the Imperial Combat Revue Rebellion (Teikoku Kagekidan no Hanran) rose up among the ashes. Sakura Nadeshiko stood as the movement’s lead, taking on the mantle of a terrorist, whose goal was the dismantling of the Imperial Combat Revue.

However, from this explosion also came the discovery of a new energy source, known as Mirai, which would be able to replace the steam and spiritual energies of the past. The idea quickly became popular upon promises that it would bring a new, prosperous future, bringing about advances few could dream of prior.

Along with movement forth with the Mirai initiative, prime minister Tokihisa Kira proposed to revive the Imperial Combat Revue that had protected the nation in the past, which was widely known to be able to heal the hearts of humanity while fighting the evils that lay lurking in wait.

From this initiative came the Great Imperial Combat Revue B.L.A.C.K., who would provide light for the citizens through song, while laying waste to demons known as Kouki that lurk across Tokyo with the aid of weapons known as Spiricle Suits. The initiative was welcomed with open arms by the citizens of Japan.

In the year Taisho 100, Tokihisa Kira announced that he would be appointed as the commander of the Great Imperial Combat Revue B.L.A.C.K. The group’s newest assignment will be their their greatest challenge yet: the capture of Sakura Nadeshiko.

Sakura Revolution will launch on October 28.

About Sakura Revolution

Sakura Revolution is a mobile RPG that’s being developed by Delightworks (Fate/Grand Order). The title was originally announced via two dueling projects: Sega’s Project B.L.A.C.K. and Delightworks’ Nippon Dakkan, before both were revealed to be one and the same during a live streaming event on September 2, 2020.

The Plot

Sakura Revolution is set in an alternate version of Tokyo, in the year Taisho 100 (2011 CE). In the year Taisho 84 (1995 CE), disaster struck the capital in a calamity known as the Great Imperial Capital Disaster. The nation was able to rebuild and recover, thanks to the discovery of a new energy based on spiritual power, known only as Mirai.

Sadly, with the activation of the New Imperial Tower, the cherry blossoms stopped blooming. Moreover, demons known as “Koki” began to increase in number, lashing out to attack people across the nation. To protect the people, the government formed the Great Imperial Combat Revue B.L.A.C.K., who protect the people from evil while bringing light to their hearts with unmatched live performances.

While peace reigns among the people thanks to Mirai and B.L.A.C.K. and many have put their trust in the government, some have come to realize that it is but a false prosperity.
